PUBLIC HEALTH

  • In times like these, we cannot afford to outsource responsibility for our city’s public health to distant and unresponsive county administrators

  • We must create a new Department of Public Health, staffed by public health professionals based in our city

  • Tailor our city’s public health initiatives, both during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, to the specific and local needs of Saratogians

COVID-19

  • Work with the proper authorities to facilitate COVID-19 testing and the distribution of a safe vaccine once it is developed

  • Hold regular meetings with the Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools in order to coordinate safe school reopening

Mental Health

  • Hire three social workers to operate a 24-hour hotline, separate from the Police Department, to respond to individual mental health crises.

    • This will ensure that Saratogians experiencing mental health issues can interact with a trained professional in the field, rather than police officers who are ill-equipped to respond to such emergencies

  • Appoint a mental health professional to serve in the city’s Department of Public Health, working to broadly promote psychological well-being in our city.
